The Longest Yard was one of the heartfelt movies that I’ve seen starring Adam Sandler. Adam here is not a slapstick or a romantic comedian, he’s more of like Michael Scofield in Prison Break who extends a helping hand even though he’s confined. Adam Sandler here plays a football player who’s jailed for drunk driving. The reason for being in jail is funny enough but the bulk of the movie is appreciating how a group of inmates rally together as a football team in defeating the prison guards’ team. Also features a very convincing dramatic performance by otherwise ludicrous rapper Nelly. Also features William Ficthner in an equally convincing role as a ruthless guard.
