Michael Bay ’s first collaboration with Steven Spielberg, The Island, was a surprise box-office failure. Not even the combined star power of Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson could save the movie partly because the movie was bland and director Bay could not inject fresh ideas into it, having exhausted all of them in Bad Boys 2. And Bay has learned from his mistakes. He has been very careful and very domineering while at the helm of Transformers. He’ll make sure the movie will be the most successful one this year when it hits theaters July 4. Why? Simply because an ego as large as Michael Bay’s cannot afford to be humiliated the second time around.
